Google TV Streamer: Successor to Chromecast, new dimension in smart home and entertainment experience

Google has announced Google TV Streamer, the successor to Chromecast. The Google TV Streamer, a $99.99 set-top box, surpasses its predecessor, the Chromecast with Google TV, with enhanced processing capabilities, seamless integration with the Thread and Matter smart home protocols, and innovative features like a remote location function.

New Design, New Possibilities

Google TV Streamer will be available in two colors: Porcelain (white) and Hazel (dark gray). Rather than a dongle like Chromecast, it’s designed to be placed under the TV as a set-top box. Its sloped, low-profile design fits any home decor.

The heart of the smart home

Google TV Streamer comes with a Thread border router and Matter connectivity support, establishing it as a central hub for smart home devices. By pressing a button on the remote, you can get a Google Home panel on the TV screen, giving you easy control over smart home devices and cameras.

New Dimensions of Entertainment

Google TV Streamer has a 22 percent faster processor, double the RAM and 32GB of integrated storage. This will result in a much smoother and lag-free experience compared to Chromecast with Google TV. With Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, it offers a complete entertainment package.

Google TV Streamer uses Gemini AI, which will provide viewers with “full summaries, reviews and season-wise breakdowns” while browsing content. Also, it can generate generative AI screensavers, which are shown when Google TV Streamer is in ambient mode.

Improved remote and new features

The Google TV Streamer comes with a new remote, which has volume buttons on the front and a customizable button. This customizable button can be set to open the Google Home panel, launch a favorite streaming app, or change the HDMI input. Also, Google TV Streamer has a remote finder button on the back, which makes it easy to find the remote if it’s lost.

Technological Improvement & Availability and Price

The Google TV Streamer comes with various technical improvements including HDMI 2.1a, Wi-Fi 5, gigabit ethernet, and Bluetooth 5.1. It is one of the first streaming devices to be powered by USB-C.

 Availability and Price

Google TV Streamer will be available starting September 24 for $99.99.

Google TV Streamer promises to deliver a whole new experience in smart home and entertainment. Its advanced performance, smart home integration, and new features make it an attractive product.
